Lakeway's Holiday Lights Guide
Plus plenty of holiday events all before Christmas

Today’s current water level: 79.3%
The Final Stretch. It’s the week before Christmas - the one where work is technically still happening, but no one is fooled. Calendars are winding down, inboxes are half-answered at best, shopping lists are getting aggressively checked off, and everyone is quietly declaring themselves done.
Outside, Lake Travis is doing its usual December improv: the weather can’t pick a season, and the trees are only now turning shades of amber and rust, weeks late but perfectly on brand. Around here, autumn doesn’t end (did it even begin?) - it just drifts into Christmas week and waits to be noticed. Either way, there’s plenty happening around the lake, so let’s get into it.
Programming Note: For the next two weeks, we’re sneaking into your inbox a day early - keep an eye out on Wednesday morning before the holiday chaos kicks in.

What does your holiday week actually look like? |
Last week’s poll results. Christmas Vacation ran away with the crown (shocking absolutely no one). And yes - we heard you - we missed a few heavy hitters. A Christmas Story, It’s A Wonderful Life, and The Family Stone (RIP Diane Keaton) all came in strong as top write-ins from our passionate holiday movie crowd.
Here’s what one of our readers had to say:
How about Rudolph, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Christmas Story and the Christmas classic - Krampus. Love Actually and Die Hard are NOT Christmas movies, but instead just show Christmas trees/parties in the movie.

Where to See the Best Holiday Lights Around Lake Travis. Every December starts with good intentions and ends with one inflatable snowman and a questionable U-turn.
Skip the guesswork this year. The Lakeway Light Up map is built by locals who take their lights seriously. Follow the neighborhood clusters, not one-off houses, and you’ll hit the good stuff. To make navigation a little less daunting, we created the holiday guide below. Bonus tip: save it before heading out - cell service can get spotty at night.

If the North Pole had lake views, it would look like this. A million lights spread across five glowing acres, Christmas trees for days, Santa on standby, and enough festive drinks and s’mores to keep both kids and adults blissfully sugared up.
