Where to See the Best Holiday Lights Around Lake Travis

A quick, festive guide to the best Lakeway light displays using the Holiday Lights Map.

Where to See the Best Holiday Lights Around Lake Travis. Every December starts with good intentions and ends with one inflatable snowman and a questionable U-turn.

Skip the guesswork this year. The Lakeway Light Up map is built by locals who take their lights seriously. Follow the neighborhood clusters, not one-off houses, and you’ll hit the good stuff. Bonus tip: save it before heading out - cell service can get spotty at night.

OLD LAKEWAY

Classic, cozy, quietly competitive

This is old-school Lakeway at its best. Mature trees wrapped in lights, traditional rooflines, and homeowners who’ve been doing this long enough to know exactly how festive is too festive (and then go a little further).

Best for: early evening walks, younger kids, and anyone chasing “classic Christmas.”

LAKEWAY BLVD CORRIDOR

High visibility, high payoff

If you’ve ever accidentally slowed down on Lakeway Blvd in December, this is why. These homes know they’re seen and they decorate accordingly. Big, bold, easy-to-enjoy-from-the-car displays.

Pro tip: Hit this stretch right after sunset before traffic thickens.

THE PRESERVE AT LAKEWAY

Maximum lights, minimum effort

Short streets, lots of participation, and a surprisingly strong hit rate. If you only have 30–45 minutes, this is your best bang-for-your-buck neighborhood.

Move: Park once, walk a loop, hop back in.

ROUGH HOLLOW

Big houses, big energy

This is where things get intentional. Larger facades, elevation changes, and a few homes that clearly enjoy being that house. Some displays even sync with music.

Best time: Later in the evening when everything else is fully dark.

SERENE HILLS & NEARBY POCKETS

Fewer houses, bigger effort

Not dense, but when a home here goes for it, they really go for it. Clean lines, dramatic rooflines, and displays that feel more architectural than playful.

Add-in: Great as a final drive-through before heading home.

LAKEWAY TRAIL OF LIGHTS

Don’t skip this

After a lot of windshield time, this is the reset button. Walkable, festive, and predictably charming, especially on weeknights when it’s quieter.

EASY ROUTE IDEAS

Quick Loop (1 hour):
Preserve at Lakeway → Lakeway Blvd → Trail of Lights

Full Night (2–2.5 hours):
Old Lakeway → Preserve → Rough Hollow → Trail of Lights

Low Patience, High Reward:
Preserve + Rough Hollow only

Happy light hunting!
