The Current Expands. Over the past few weeks, we’ve quietly been rebuilding The Current into something bigger than just a weekly send — and the feature we’re most excited about is the new Restaurant Directory.

We often found ourselves asking each other: “Where should we go again?” So we finally did something about it. The site now lists restaurants and bars across Lake Travis — complete with filters by area, cuisine, and an easier way to actually plan your weekends instead of endlessly scrolling for ideas.

We also built out dedicated sections for Local Events, Live Music, and Community Updates, so instead of juggling screenshots, group texts, and all those open tabs, you can now find everything in one spot.

And with that, here’s what’s happening around the lake this week.

Rooted in Agave. Bella Loma Distillery feels less like a new business and more like a story that’s been aging for generations.

The new local distillery was founded by husband-and-wife team Lalo and Brandy, whose vision traces back to Lalo’s childhood growing up on a ranch in Mexico — the same land now lined with rows of agave still cared for by his mother, Chucha. What started as a connection to family, land, and tradition eventually became Bella Loma: a distillery built around craftsmanship, culture, and gathering people together.

Even the branding carries meaning. The logo features Huitzilopochtli, the Aztec god associated with the sun and hummingbirds. In Aztec belief, hummingbirds were fallen warriors reborn — small, resilient, and constantly in motion. That symbolism became part of Bella Loma’s philosophy: honoring the endurance, patience, and respect for nature that agave distillation demands.

The result is something that feels intentional in a world full of copy-and-paste spirits brands. Every bottle is tied to heritage, storytelling, and the idea that the best moments usually happen around a table.

Life’s best moments are shared with laughter, good company, and a drink in hand.

A thoughtful addition to the local scene — and one we’re excited to watch grow.

We’ll be sharing our full experience soon — along with details on an upcoming Lake Travis Current social event we’re planning to host there.

Last Week’s Poll Results. We asked what you’d like to see more of in The Current and a clear theme emerged: more thoughtful local finds and more stories about the people behind this community. Looks like we’ll be adding a few more intros and recs into the mix.

Lakeway’s Rising Sound. Born and raised in Lakeway, Presley Grace Trevino has been performing around the Lake Travis and Austin music scene since she was just 16 years old. Now 20, the singer, songwriter, pianist, and entertainer is building a name for herself through local performances and original music — including an upcoming single called “With You.”

Music has always been part of Presley’s life. She grew up in a musical family, with a father who performs as a country artist, and says many of her biggest influences come from the timeless sounds of ‘60s and ‘70s R&B, soul, and pop.

Presley says staying rooted in Lakeway has been a huge part of her journey. She loves being close to family, longtime friends, and the Austin music scene — including recording sessions at Point West Recording.

When she’s not performing or writing music, you’ll probably find her grabbing boba at SnowBo or working out at HCI Sports & Fitness.

And as for what she hopes to bring to the community?

I just hope that what I do brings people a little joy when they’re out and about.

Independent Beauty. Rooted Salon Suites is opening this September in Lakeway with private suites for stylists and wellness pros—basically coworking, but everyone has better lighting.

One More Round of Voting. Early voting for Texas’ 2026 primary runoff is officially underway ahead of the May 26 election. One catch: you can only vote in the runoff for the same party primary you chose back in March.

Peach Season, Complicated. A warm winter followed by a late freeze has Hill Country peach growers bracing for one of the roughest seasons in years. This means fewer peaches, higher prices, and probably a few emotional roadside stand conversations this summer.

Adopt Me. Meet Kristoff, a four-year-old lab/retriever mix rescued from a Texas euthanasia list who now approaches life with the energy of someone discovering fetch for the very first time.
