Pecan Street Festival Returns to the Galleria this Weekend

Plus our review of A One Dumplings & Noodle Bar

Today’s current water level: 86.9%

Reflections on the Lake. Each year on September 11, some local residents quietly place candles and small American flags across Lake Travis, creating a floating tribute to the lives lost and the heroes who ran toward danger.

It’s a simple act, but a powerful reminder of how communities remember - with reverence, respect, and quiet resolve.

As we reflect on those impacted by 9/11, there’s something especially meaningful about this week’s Water Lantern Festival - a chance to come together, share light, and honor memories. Here’s what else is happening around the lake this week.

Last week we asked about what merch you’d love.
While tees and stickers took the lead, koozies made a strong showing.

The Logo Heard ‘Round Austin. Austin just dropped $1.1M on a new logo. It’s bold, abstract, and definitely sparking conversation. We recently changed our logo too - but for a lot less. What do you think? Does Austin’s new look win or miss? And how did we do on ours? Hit reply to let us know!

Opened on August 28, A One Dumplings & Noodle Bar is already delivering on what locals have long craved: authentic Chinese cuisine without the trek into Austin.

Our Order. We stopped by during opening week and sampled a lineup that did not disappoint. The pork soup dumplings were delicately tasty and full of soup, exactly what you hope for in xiao long bao. The shui mai was a hit with our toddler and the beef noodle soup was cozy and satisfying. The Peking duck, served with thin crepe-style pancakes, was a great balance of crispy and tender.

The Vibe. Casual and welcoming, with a menu that ranges from fast-casual takeout staples (think General Tso’s, lo mein, and fried rice) to more traditional, refined dishes. The space feels fresh and modern, and early Google reviews echo our experience of great service, standout dumplings, and high marks all around.

Next On Our List. Scallion pancakes, wonton soup, and black truffle dumplings. This spot isn’t just new, it’s a much-needed addition to the Lake Travis dining scene.
