New Year's Eve Drop
All the best events to ring in 2026

Today’s current water level: 78.9%
A Note to Close Out the Year. As we wrap up 2025, we’ve been thinking a lot about how this newsletter started - just a handful of neighbors trying to make the Lake Travis area feel a little more connected.
A year later, thousands of you open this email each week. You’ve shared your favorite restaurants, events, traffic gripes, photos, opinions, and all the little things you love about this community.
If you’d like to support us going into 2026, the best thing you can do is share this newsletter with a friend or neighbor.
Thanks for being here.
Thanks for caring about this place.
And thanks for letting us be part of your week.
Here’s to 2026. 🥂

Our final poll of the year gave us the clearest road map we could ask for. You told us what you want to see more of in 2026 - food that makes you leave the house, gatherings that make you stay awhile, Hill Country adventures worth the drive, and a whole lot more connection.
Here’s the State of the Current:
RESTAURANTS TAKE THE CROWN
Local eats absolutely dominated the poll. You want openings, specials, hidden gems, new menus, and “does this place even exist yet?” updates.
As one reader put it: “So few restaurants…and I want to know the moment one opens.”
COMMUNITY GATHERINGS (LOTS OF THEM)
Parents, long-timers, newcomers - everyone wants more ways to show up and meet the people who live around them. More events. More connection. More reasons to leave the house for something other than errands.
One reader said it best: “Love this newsletter. We're young parents in Steiner looking to build community in 2026.”
EVENTS BEYOND LAKE TRAVIS
Plenty of you asked for Hill country festivals, day trips, and the good stuff beyond our bubble. Consider it added to the rotation.
REAL ESTATE…WITH BALANCE
Some of you want the intel on market trends, neighborhood developments, new roads, proposals, growth updates. Others said, boldly, “please no real estate listings!” We hear both sides, and we’ll thread that needle carefully.
LOCAL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHTS
Shoutout to the reader who said: “What about local small business promotions? Discounts? Services besides restaurants?”
A fantastic idea. More of that is coming. Did you see what Musicologie is offering?
THE BIG PICTURE
What you really want is what every great community thrives on: more ways to learn, gather, eat, explore, and stay connected.
Here’s to a year where neighbors become friends, inboxes turn into meetups, and this little newsletter grows right alongside the community it serves.
