The Mascot Turns One. This week, Marshall officially turned one. That means our unofficial Lake Travis Current mascot has successfully completed his first year of professional duties: stealing socks, greeting strangers like long-lost friends, and occasionally appearing in the newsletter.

When we brought home a fluffy golden retriever puppy last summer, we imagined long walks, family adventures, and a loyal companion. We got all of that, plus a highly enthusiastic landshark phase, a remarkable talent for finding mud, and a level of optimism that borders on inspirational.

A year later, he's still convinced every person wants to be his friend, every stick is worth carrying home, and every day is the best day ever. Frankly, we could all learn something from that.

Happy birthday, Marshall.

Speaking of showing up for the people around you, we’ve got something we’ve been looking forward to.

Mark Your Calendars. On Saturday, June 13th, we’re hosting our first-ever Lake Travis Current social event at Bella Loma Distillery in Spicewood.

Brian Andrew Lee will be playing live while the margaritas are flowing. Bring the family, bring the dog (leashed), bring your own food if you’d like — the distillery welcomes it.

Come say hello, meet your neighbors, and spend a Saturday afternoon the right way.

📍 Bella Loma Distillery, 12501 County Road 404, Spicewood, TX 78669

Last Week’s Poll Results. We asked what you thought of our new Restaurant Directory, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. One reader wrote, “LOVE the restaurant directory! It was exactly what I needed.” Mission accomplished. Stay tuned - we've got more website features on the way.

A lot of you told us how much you’re enjoying the new directory, which got us thinking about all the places that aren’t around anymore. So, we want to know…

Name a place around Lake Travis that's gone, but still lives rent-free in your head.

Passport booklet from the Hill Country Galleria Wine & Food Festival

Toast. Feast. Give Back. The official tagline of the Hill Country Galleria Wine & Food Festival, which we finally made it to this past weekend. Here’s a recap of our experience:

The weather certainly did its part. Overcast skies, mild temperatures, and just enough breeze to remind everyone that May in Texas doesn't always have to feel like survival training. We even got a babysitter, which meant we could fully lean into the experience.

Check-in set the tone right away. Guests received a burlap tote filled with a tasting guide, Galleria map, a mini phone fan, LMNT electrolytes (which, in hindsight, felt less like a sponsor giveaway and more like a public service), and a commemorative wine glass.

Then we began the journey.

For the medicine cabinet: Trader Joe’s Vitamin C Serum has developed a cult following for a reason. At $10 a bottle, many skincare enthusiasts swear it performs surprisingly close to luxury versions that cost more than dinner for four.

For the adventurous eaters: H-E-B’s limited-edition Pickle Chamoy Sherbet is exactly what it sounds like — packed with dill pickle flavor, chamoy swirls, and real pickle pieces. It’s sweet, sour, and briny. We’re not saying you’ll love it. We are saying you’ll probably buy it just to find out.

It’s Back. The splash pad at Hill Country Galleria is officially back after years of sitting dry. It’s now open daily from 10am to 6pm, giving parents one more weapon in the ongoing battle against summer boredom.

Don’t Snooze on This. Not exactly Lake Travis, but close enough to matter: Snooze A.M. Eatery has opened in Arbor Trails, bringing another outpost of its famously indulgent breakfast menu to Southwest Austin.

Quoted. "Thanks so much for this resource for LT!!" — a reader in last week's newsletter. Messages like this make our day.

Adopt Me. Meet Embers, a 20-pound Chihuahua mix with expressive eyes, good manners, and a soft spot for other animals. Give her a little time, and her personality does the rest.
