Water, Held Well. Mansfield Dam doesn’t seek attention, but it earns respect. When catastrophic flooding rolled through the Hill Country earlier this month, Lake Travis surged more than 17 feet in under 48 hours. The floodgates at Mansfield? Still closed.

Despite the dramatic rise, lake levels never reached the 681-foot threshold required to open the dam. Upstream, Buchanan Dam began releasing water. Here, Mansfield held firm - storing, balancing, and quietly generating power where possible.

Built in 1941, Mansfield Dam is still the quiet force behind our lake life. With the lake holding strong and the community showing up in full force, we’re scrolling down to the weekend ahead.
