One for the History Books. Most Fourth of Julys come and go. This one won't. America turns 250 this week, making it the only semiquincentennial (yes, that's the real word) most of us will ever celebrate.

Fortunately, Lake Travis has always known how to celebrate a summer holiday. Fireworks over the water, hometown parades, packed marinas, and neighbors gathering in lawn chairs. It doesn't get much more American than that.

Here's to 250 years - and the one weekend where fighting for a good boat spot feels genuinely patriotic.

While we’ve listed several events down below, save our Lake Travis July 4th Guide for your weekend planning.

Get in front of 4,000+ locals tuning in weekly - people looking for local spots and services worth their time.

The Best Seat in Town. Some people stake out a spot hours early. Others wander outside five minutes before the show. Whether you're out on the lake, at a local celebration, or watching from your driveway, we want to know where you'll be when the sky lights up.

We've featured a Teacher of the Year, a hometown musician, and a community run club. Who should we meet next? Every neighborhood has people making a difference and we'd love to tell their story. Nominate yourself or someone who's making Lake Travis a better place.

An Affordable Party Trick. Turns out a surprisingly good Fourth of July grazing board can be built almost entirely at Trader Joe's for under $35. The hardest part is leaving TJ’s with only what’s on the list.

Wear It Local. Still need something patriotic? The North Lake Travis Chamber of Commerce is selling Fourth of July apparel celebrating America's 250th birthday. Limited edition, patriotic, and it tells people exactly where you’re from. Wear it to the fireworks and see who else is repping the lake.

Still Scrolls. Still Floats. This waterproof phone pouch lets you text, swipe, snap photos, and use Face ID without ever removing your phone from the case. If your Fourth involves any combination of a boat, a cooler, and a dock jump, this is just sensible planning.

The Search is Over. Gracie the giraffe, whose disappearance had plenty of Central Texans doing a double take, has been found safe. We were all a little more invested than we'd like to admit.

Another Step for The Village. Bee Cave approved early plans for a five-story apartment building at the Village at Spanish Oaks, complete with a dog park, fitness center, plunge pool, and swim-up bar. The 81-acre mixed-use development continues to take shape.

Quoted. “You target things to do right in my stomping grounds of the Spicewood area. It’s great to be informed and support the local businesses.” — a reader comment from last week's newsletter. Exactly why we started this.

Adopt Me. Meet Goose, a lovable pup with plenty of personality who's ready to trade shelter life for a backyard, a couch, and someone to throw the ball one more time.

Ice, Ice…Maybe? Austin may be getting colder. The NHL is reportedly exploring Austin as the home of a future expansion franchise, meaning hockey could eventually join the city's growing sports lineup. We want to know: what should the team be called? Drop us your best (or worst) ideas.
