Hop To It

Plus egg hunts, brunches, and bluebonnets

Today’s current water level: 73.8%

Happy Easter. Americans buy over 90 million chocolate bunnies each year and about 76% of people eat the ears first, which feels like useful psychological insight.

Around Lake Travis, Easter marks one of the first true lake weekends of the year, when boat traffic, short-term rentals, and patio crowds wake up from hibernation.

It also lines up with peak wildflower season, meaning your normal drive around the lake suddenly looks like a postcard (weather permitting).

And it quietly kicks off peak home touring season - families are out, the weather’s ideal, and people start picturing life in the hills and on the lake.

Here’s what’s happening this week.

Last Week’s Poll Results. We tried to get a clean answer on pizza. We did not.

CraigO’s and Tony C’s basically split the lake - one pulled ahead, but not by enough to end the argument. If anything, it probably made it worse.

So let’s keep it going.

Next up: best Asian food around the lake. Who’s the one you keep going back to?

A Different Cost of Admission. In the 1980s, $13.50 got you into Chicago, Journey, or Rod Stewart at the Erwin Center.

That’s not a typo.

A photo of old ticket stubs made the rounds this week and it reads like fiction - major artists, packed arenas, and prices that now feel closer to a parking fee than admission.

Today, those same shows start north of $100, before the inevitable “fees” quietly doubles the damage.

Somewhere along the way, live music didn’t just get bigger.

It got expensive.

Traffic Isn’t Getting Ignored. Bee Cave is revisiting road plans, including new connectors and a possible widening of Hamilton Pool Road, as traffic starts doing what traffic does around here.

A Park, Upgraded. Lakeway is gearing up to start Butler Rough Hollow Park this summer, and the plans are ambitious: amphitheater, mountain bike trails, multi-sport fields, basketball courts, a ninja course, and a shaded, accessible playground - basically, something for every version of “we should get outside more.”

Wellness, Reconsidered. Thriving Life Clinic is now open in Bee Cave, offering a more root-cause approach to health for those looking beyond the usual quick fixes. Think functional medicine, personalized plans, and a focus on why you feel off.

Adopt Me. Meet Nalani - her name means “the heavens,” and she seems intent on living up to it.

Peak Hill Country. Bluebonnet season at Muleshoe Bend is arguably the best stretch of spring in the Hill Country. This is the kind of view that makes you slow down - even if just for a minute.
