Last Week's Poll Results. Like many of you, we spent the Fourth watching fireworks from the backyard. Between neighborhood displays and the official shows, we could see everything from South Austin to Dripping Springs lighting up the horizon.

This week, we're curious about something else…

You Thought the Fourth Was Crowded. If you think holiday weekends on Lake Travis get crowded, allow us to introduce you to July 10, 2010.

That summer, Lake Travis became the epicenter of the boating world when Aquapalooza rolled into town. More than 65,000 people packed the lake aboard an estimated 7,000 boats, all anchored together to watch a free concert by country superstar Brad Paisley. Your ticket? A boat. Or a friend with one.

The stage was built at The Reserve at Lake Travis, but the audience stretched as far as the eye could see. From above, the water looked less like a lake and more like a floating city - boats rafted together in every direction, music echoing across the coves, and helicopters circling overhead to capture what became one of the most iconic images in Lake Travis history.

The timing couldn't have been better. Paisley had just released his summer anthem “Water,” was in the middle of his H2O World Tour, and somehow ended up performing to what was likely the only crowd where nearly every fan arrived by anchor instead of parking lot.

Sixteen years later, Aquapalooza still feels like one of those "you had to be there" moments. It was the kind of event that could probably only happen once - a perfect mix of high lake levels, country music, and enough boats to make today's Fourth of July traffic feel relaxing.
